How many Day 3 to Day 5 embryos make it?

Hello! I’m 39 years old and doing my first IVF cycle. So this is all new to me and I’m not sure what to make of all these numbers…

They retrieved 17 eggs, 16 of which were mature, and all 16 were fertilized, yay! My doctor definitely seemed pleased with that.

Today, on Day 3:

Two embryos have stopped growing 😔

But we still have 14 of the original 16 🤗

Of those, 10 are good quality and 4 are slow growers.

I know the next step to Day 5 blastocysts can have the biggest drop-off’s so I’m trying to prepare myself.. but I’m not sure what I should expect? 50% make it? More? Less? These next two days will feel like an eternity!
