What to do when you lose your mucus plug?

I haven’t lost mine yet I’m only 31 weeks+5 days, but when I do. Do I let my OB/GYN know immediately or wait till like next appointment. I am reading up about child birth (this is my first) and the final weeks of pregnancy and one site said to call OB/GYN as soon after abs the other said I didn’t have to since it’s not an indication of labor happening right than. So do I call her or wait till the next appointment when it happens?

My doctor said it doesn’t matter unless there’s blood and you’re not full-term

You don’t do anything. You can lose your mucous plug for weeks before going into labor as it regenerates. But I would recommend at your next appt that you talk to your doc so they can educate you about signs and symptoms of labor and what to do when. That way when the time comes you’ll know

Mucus plug doesn't mean much. You can lose bits of it throughout. It regenerates. What you want to watch for is your bloody show. If it happens. I was in full blown active labor and never had a bloody show. But if that happens, labor is closer. Like hours to a few days away. You still don't have to call the OB though. Wait for 5-1-1 (contractions 5 mins apart, lasting for 1 min each, for 1 hour) then call L&D and they'll let you know if you need to come get checked. Also call if your water breaks. They'll have you head in.
