Unexpected birth story. Eliana Leah born on 4/20
On 4/19 I had my weekly exam which I was 38 weeks and 4 days and when my ob checked me I was at 3 cm dilated. She asked if I wanted a membrane sweep and I agreed. Towards the end of my appointment she asked if I had any questions or concerns and I actually did I told her for the past 2 days I hadn’t really felt baby move so I was concerned she asked if I felt baby wiggle about 10 times every two hours and the answer was no. She then told me she would have a girl perform an ultrasound and thank god the girl was busy so she ended up doing it herself. When she saw I could see her face was concerned and she told me I was very low in amniotic fluid. As she kept looking in the machine she told me plans had changed she was sending me to labor and delivery. She told me I was being induced for baby’s well being. She explained that she thought this was the best option and she told me to let my husband know we where having a baby! I was definitely surprised hearing all this information at once but I was mainly glad I actually said something because I honestly wasn’t thinking of mentioning anything regarding baby not moving as usually they always dismiss what I have to say. I called my husband and I let my job know I couldn’t return back to work. At around 8p I received the epidural and around 10p I was 7cm dilated. At around 11p I kept feeling pressure and the need to push. The 2 doctors where in surgery so I was asked to try and hold not to push. At around 11:45p I kept asking if the Dr was free because I felt lots of pressure and i was getting asked to hold off pushing. By this time the nurse checks me I’m at a full 10cm dilated, she then starts preparing everything and she calls a fellow or resident to be on stand by in case the baby comes before the Dr is here. By 12:35 p the Dr. Arrives and when they propped my legs baby head was poking out already. Two and a half pushes later in less than 5 mins my baby girl was out.!I can truly say this was definitely a smooth and painless delivery. Eliana Leah was born 4/20 at 12:39 am.
Its been 6 days now of me being a mommy of two beautiful girls and while it has been challenging these past days with my 2 year old adjusting with baby sissy. It has definitely gotten better. Life has been throwing curveballs at us lately but seeing my girls faces reminds me I have a reason to be strong for them. I want to wish all you ladies luck in this new journey and I hope nothing but the very best. Here is two of my fav pics so far ❤️
