Reverse dilation during inducing

I was 41w +2 when I went for induction.

Before we started I had already been 2cm and I was the week previously.

I had two pessaries, the first one didn't work but wow, did I feel it work! The second one, the contractions was bad at all, but I reached 4cm by day 3.

They broke my waters and hooked me up to the drip to really get induction going. By which point I asked her an epidural, cause the story's I heard, the drip was the worst.

I certainly felt it a bit, but but didn't want to hang around for the worst, I was already tired.

I still felt the contractions but hardly due to the epidural.

The next day they checked again and I went back down to 2cm.

There was panic in the room as the heart monitor on my baby was crazy, but didn't a sample from baby's head didn't show distress the night before. But for along as I could remember, her heart monitor was all over the place.

(turned out she had a heart condition).

Day 5 and 42 weeks pregnant I was put to sleep and had c-section.

But what on earth happend? Is there any explanation to why my body just wasn't having it? I didn't produce any milk either. This was 3 years ago, but due to things people have shared about their labour I just wondered?
