Attempting a VBAC but scared -long post
Hi! I’m currently 37+4 and my plan is to have a TOLAC/VBAC, but now that it’s getting down to the wire I’m getting scared. With my first, he was a scheduled C-section because we found out at 38 weeks that he was breech (it was a terrible practice and they never once even felt my stomach let alone did any additional US or anything like that) and I had him at 39 weeks. Because of this, I never experienced labor, water breaking, contractions, etc. so I don’t know what to expect on that front.
I am now at a completely different practice and my doctor (who is also a surgeon) is very pro VBAC. I had been feeling really good about this decision until recently - I’m starting to freak myself out. I’m scared of something going wrong (ie uterine rupture or other things that could possibly go wrong and not even know about it). I’m not opposed to another section, I had just really wanted to try to deliver vaginally, but I don’t want to put the baby’s/my life at risk. My doctor also gave me the green light to try to kickstart labor (she suggested primrose oil which I don’t think I want to do, intercourse, etc) because they aren’t going to induce me - I already have a C-section scheduled for 41 weeks in the event that I don’t go into labor on my own.
I don’t know exactly what I’m looking for - maybe stories of successful VBACs? Should I not attempt this? If you tried to induce labor, at what point did you start trying and what did you do?
If you made it this far thank you :)
