period not returned after birth?

i’m ebf so this could be why but my Midwife said it would return within a few weeks at my 6 week pp checkup. my baby is 9 weeks old saturday and no period.. i’m not complaining cause i’ve always had horrible periods but is this normal?

If you’re BF it may not return until you stop; this can be years. Your midwife really should have explained this better

My baby is almost 7 months and EBF I’ve still not had a period which in a way is fab cause I hate them but in another sense I want them back as we want another baby 😂

Yes, Completely normal. I exclusively breastfed for 13.5 months. Didn't get my period back until 14months post partum!

If I remember right, 6 months is the average time it takes to have a cycle if you’re breastfeeding (that includes pumping, possiblycombofeeding),but many women have longer or shorter gaps. Depends on your body. 6 months after my first (BF and pumping), 5 months after my second (pumped about a week on one side only due to thrush). Third is 8 months old, no pumping, eating 3 solids meals a day now. At 6 mos I had the lightest pink tinge off and on for 3 days and thought it might be returning. Nothing since 🤷🏻‍♀️ Wheh it does come back, it’s also normal for it to be irregular for a while. Some women have no cycles until a couple months after weaning … lucky ladies 😂

Midwife should have phrased it that it COULD return because there is such a big range of normal.  With my first it took 6 months and with my second four months with two EBF babies.  Don’t stress it and enjoy the short break :)
