Any advice?

Has anyone had a natural birth? I’m planning on having a natural birth and was wondering what it’s like? Any tips and advice that you can throw my way.

Yes I went unmedicated with my second and it was 1000x easier than my induction with my first. I researched the birth process a ton so I'd know what to expect better and be better able to advocate for myself. I also hired a doula which was immensely helpful in the final weeks for that emotional support and having her in the delivery room. A lot of my birth prep focused on overcoming my fears from the trauma of my first birth, I did lots of meditations and mantras. I also did the exercise program from One Strong Mama, she puts out a lot of free info on insta too, and I credit that body work with why my labor was so fast and pretty painless until pushing.

Depending on how far along you are or how much time you have left to read a book. I highly suggest a book called active labor . My sister suggested it to me since she knew I wanted a natural birth . It’s been very informative  so far! With my first I tried to do it without medication but they had induced me due to my water breaking on its own. I ended up caving and getting the epidural . With my second I wanted to go natural as well but that may not be able to happen .

It's intense. I've had 2 homebirths that were completely different but both intense lol I took hypnobirthing for birth education and relaxation techniques. I've found that being able to relax is key to success. Getting past any fear that you may have deep inside is also very important for relaxing. Gotta break the fear-tension-pain cycle. I found birth education really helpful for that. It was very reassuring to know what was going on inside and gave me the confidence to stick to it.

I didn’t realize I was in labor until an hour before my son was born. By the time we got to the hospital I was holding back the urge to push. Water broke as soon as I got in the birthing bed. Doctor checked, said I was complete and push at my next contraction. No time for any medical intervention, he was out in 3 pushes.  It was all very surreal. I had wanted a natural birth and this worked out great, I was just so surprised.  Not every natural experience is awful or something to be endured.

Any advice?
