Farmers- Should we be panicking about a food shortage?
I wanted to ask this question, but I don't have any friends that are farmers or that really know anything about this type of thing in general. I sure as hell don't know anything about it... hence why I need to ask in the first place, lol. Anyway, I just saw a TikTok where this girl was saying that we're having these food shortages and it's only going to get worse due to inflation, that we're not even going to know anything until it's too late, etc. She said that with inflation being so high, farmers are switching to different crops other than corn or wheat because it's cheaper. So that must mean we're going to have a pretty big shortage there. She talks about an article saying that the world currently only has ten weeks worth of wheat left right now. She then goes on to say, "so if we don't have any corn or wheat, and those are used to feed so many, with the price of meat already skyrocketing, what are we going to do when they have to raise those prices even more because it costs more to feed the animals? Then she says that we need to prepare. How does everyone feel about this? Should we be worried, panicking, preparing? How do we prepare?
I'm trying not to panic now but for someone who has severe anxiety, on top of everything that's going on in the world right now, it literally feels like the world is on fire. I have a small child to feed. I'm worried.
Also, forgive me if I sound really ignorant in this post. I genuinely have no clue what's going on and just want to hear from people who do know and see what I can do.
