Can anyone speak from experience?
So this may be a long explanation and I want to thank those of you who make it to the end 😅
Before I get into this, I know I need to speak to my HR rep and supervior on my company's policies, but I havent announced to anyone yet and just trying to think ahead on how the best way to approach the conversation will be.
So basically, here's the situation:
I started my new job Dec 27, 2021. Found out i was expecting and due Dec 18, 2022. I don't know about other states, but in Florida, you are required to work 1250 hours in a 12 month period and be employed for 12 months before you are able to qualify for FMLA.
I obviously I don't control when the baby comes but it is safe to say that i will not hit my one year anniversary before baby arrives and qualify for FMLA.
Ideally, what I would love to happen is to use my PTO until i hit that one year mark and am able to finally qualify for leave, but I don't know that it technically works that way. I have so many questions and would love to know if anyone has experienced a similar situation and maybe how you handled it?
If I am able to do the ideal scenario, Im curious if my pto will count towards my 1250 hours for the year since its technically paid time off, but also I'd be using earned hours? Im so confused 😕
