Are dopplers worth the investment?

I'm pregnant with baby #2 and currently 10 weeks today. I was wondering if those fetal doppler radars were worth looking into?

No I don’t think it’s worth it. Many people can’t find the right placement for the heart beat and freak out. It doesn’t read accurate. I got one and used it once and it’s collecting dust.

A lot of people say no, but for me it is most definitely worth it. I’ve had 3 miscarriages and it gives me so much reassurance that my baby is still alive. Maybe if you’re someone who hasn’t dealt with miscarriages or don’t have a disorder like antiphospholipid syndrome that can cause miscarriage like me than it’s not worth it, but when you are so worried about not knowing if that heartbeat is still there, it is worth it. My Doppler worked from the time I was 10 weeks. It can be hard to find when the baby is so small but just need to remember it needs to be angled just oerfeftly

Once I pass the first trimester, I just go by baby moving. I always feel better once they start to wiggle! I feel like it’s an expensive investment just for a few weeks for myself personally.

Nope. They cause more worry than comfort. Plus, they are tricky to use.

It was for me up until about 16 weeks because that’s when I started to feel baby move. Now I might pull it out every once in a while if I’m not feeling too much movement but it mostly just collects dust now lol I’ll definitely pull it out again for my next pregnancy though!

I have a retroverted uterus, which like 20% of women have? And you can’t find the heartbeat with a Doppler till 12-14 weeks. It caused me panic and I paid for a private ultrasound for them to tell me that.

Depends on what you're using it for, if you want it to check if everything is ok not really worth it because it can cause more anxiety than it's worth. For me I just loved listening to her heartbeat, it was very soothing and I felt more connected to her, I can't wait until baby #2 is big enough that I can start listening!

Mine was worth it for me. I had a significant fear of loosing this baby and having a Doppler was very reassuring for me. I was able to consistently find his heartbeat from about 10 weeks on. Once I started feeling him move around 16 weeks, I didn’t really use it anymore. 
One time, I even fell pretty hard on ice during late first/early second trimester, so it really lessened my anxiety to be able to check on him with Doppler before I was able to make it in to see my provider. 
I can see why people don’t think it’s worth the investment, but it definitely was for me. Also consider purchasing on Facebook marketplace used- I see them there all the time!
