Anyone collecting colostrum before baby arrives?

I saw a video about it on TikTok! This is baby #2 and my breasts feel so full. I’m 37 weeks. I’m not talking about full blown pumping but hand expression?

I've never collected colostrum. I don't like to plan for bad outcomes and there's really no other reason to do it. I just feed at the breast when they get here.

I did and i am so happy i did. I wasnt able to latch feed my first due to a really bad lip tie and we werent prepared with other options so we fell into the formula situation.  
I froze the syringes and we actually forgot them on the way to the hospital so my husband had to go back. The nurses were extremely impressed and it made me feel better knowing she had what she needed. She had jaundice pretty bad so the more she fed the quicker it got out of her system. By her 2 day appointment she was already almost back to birth weight. I think it helped give her body the start it needed without having to wait for my body to be ready

I’m pregnant with my fourth and will be doing so this time around. My last baby had some blood sugar issues when she was born and my first had feeding and respiratory issues when he was born. My midwife has already said I can start collecting colostrum and 36 1/2 weeks.

Yes it was recommended to me to start hand expressing from 36 weeks because I have gestational diabetes and midwife/DS said best to collect and store in the freezer then take to hospital with me when im in labour. 
I also heard it can help labour start earlier and i cant go over my due date really because baby is risk being too big lol x

My midwife said recently that hand expressing at 37 isn't a problem. Just no sooner.
