PRE-ECLAMPSIA

Hey everyone - I’ve just returned from my 39 week antenatal appointment and protein has been found in my urine. Last night I had my first migraine - I call it that as it would not go away easily, although it was gone by morning. And for the first time yesterday, I had flashing lights in my vision for around 15 seconds after bending down, but nothing since. They want to be cautious, and have asked me to return in two days for another urine check and to check my blood pressure.

I was wondering if anyone else has been diagnosed with preeclampsia late in pregnancy, and also what does it feel like? Are the headaches constant? Frequent? I’m worried as I had my heart set on a home birth, although I know the health of myself and the baby come first. Just curious as to what preeclampsia feels like for those who have symptoms?

Thanks!

You need to go to the hospital! I had pre-eclampsia abd the same symptoms, my baby was in danger, you need to get evaluated and have baby monitored.

I was diagnosed with preeclampsia after I delivered, although in hindsight I definitely had it for a day or so before I gave birth. I felt pretty poorly to be honest. I also had triple vision. I didn’t experience headaches as I was on a lot of pain relief at the time from labour, but I definitely swelled up. I don’t know about the home birth, I think I’m the uk they would want you on labour ward being closely monitored.
