How accurate are expected due dates?

While pregnancy is supposed to last 40 weeks and doctor tells an Expected due date based on ultrasound, but in which week do most of the babies come out? Much before EDD or later? Which week?

Answer

Two weeks before or after is considered perfectly normal. Babies come when they’re ready most of the time. I don’t know of any specific studies that have returned answers on what’s the most common week but I believed it’s slightly more common to run past EDD in first pregnancies.

It’s 50/50 weather they come early or late, and it is rare for them to arrive on the actual due date.
That being said. My first was 2 days late, and my second came on her due date.
Also speak to some of you female relatives like your mom, sisters, and aunts. If there is a history of very early births with them, then it increases your probability that you’ll deliver early.

With both my pregnancies my babies came at 37 weeks. Im expecting my third to be early as well.

My mom went “over” with all three of her pregnancies. One was born at 40+2 and already had meconium in the sac. I’m not too convinced on due date accuracy.

I’ve had four kids and my first was 41weeks, second 36 weeks, third 38 weeks, fourth 36 weeks. 
So so random and seems to be no rhyme or reason besides when baby is ready lol

For me my first came at 38 weeks. We'll see what happens with this one! I'm hoping it comes early as well because me due date is Christmas. 😬

I had both my babies before. First one was at 39 second at 38

My first one was 3 days late and second one was 10 days late. I don’t rely on my due date. When baby is ready they will come 😀

￼it’s really more of a due month. Two weeks before and two weeks after the due date is a pretty good estimate of when delivery will occur.
my first kiddo was 4 days past his due date, though I started labor on his due date.
My mom is fairly certain I was born on my due date (she had a cerclage due to an incompetent cervix which prevented an early birth until a week or two before) and my husband’s mom thinks he came a day or two late.
I mention that because babies tend to follow familial patterns when determining early or not.

It varies. With my first I went a week over at 41 weeks. Hoping this baby wants to come at like 39 😋
