Gender Ovulation question

TTC a boy (very happy for either gender though!), so we are trying closer to ovulation. However, what is close to ovulation? Within a day of ovulation or is 3 days good too? I don’t use opk tests, I just stay in tune with my body and CM, it always seems to be fairly the same each month. Also, EWCM means I’m currently ovulating? Or does EWCM mean I’m about to ovulate? Just trying to get the particulars down. Also, any TTC gender advice is welcome! Thank you 😊
