Shaving pubes

This may sound really dumb but like… how do you shave your pubes properly?

I’ve always shaved down there for years and years (since teenage years and I’m now 33), I shave completely everything, but I just have never felt like I’m doing it how it should be done. I always get red sore itchy shaving rash after, and it just always look red and stubbly.

I’ve read online before that youre meant to exfoliate? But.. how? and with what? and do you moisturise or anything afterwards? if so.. with what?

I basically just shave it and then thats it, which is probably where I go wrong. Or is the itchy shaving rash unavoidable?
