Nursing/bottle confusion/advice

Katie

I have a 4 month old, my third child, and just had her checkup and she gained no weight since 2 month appointment.

Backstory:

I had to go back to work for a few days in June and she was given bottles at daycare. They overfed her and didn’t pace feed her. It would take a week for her latch to seem right again after her having a bottle. I only pump once a day in the morning and that has decreased significantly as well. I used to get 7-8 oz and now am struggling to get 3-4. I’ve called the company that made my pump and tried what they said, but it hasn’t seemed to help yet.

Also she does sleep through the night.

Doctors advice seems solely focused on gaining weight, but I didn’t feel it was nursing friendly. She wants me to wake her to feed in the night, add in at least a 5 ounce bottle (she originally said “7, well I guess she’s still kind of young, so start with 5”) during the day and offer her a bottle after every feed. But then didn’t want to do anything else until we go back in ten days to see if it’s better.

I was leaning towards nursing her in the night, hopefully just dream feeding so we don’t mess up her awesome sleeping schedule. And offering a syringe of milk or spoon feed her if she still seems frustrated after nursing. I’m waiting to hear back from a contact through the Le Leche League, but just was curious what other nursing moms would recommend. I’m scared if I start giving her so many bottles she won’t want to nurse anymore.

Any advice? Any moms dealt with this before?
