My fiancé called me his girlfriend then said I overreacted
My fiancé and I (30s) have been engaged for 10 months. The other night we were out and he said something like “and that’s why you’re the best girlfriend” I literally just laughed and brushed it off because we were having a good time. Later in the night he referred to me as his girlfriend again.
This time (i was a bit tipsy NOT drunk) I said “that’s the second time you called me your GF, I’m your fiancé”
His response “titles don’t really matter anyway, you know who you are to me”
I responded “if I’m you’re girlfriend then why am I wearing a ring? Why do I accompany you at work dinners? Why am I taking care of you like a wife would?”
He told me to relax and that it wasn’t a big deal and that I need to stop carrying about “little” things like that. I explained that it’s important for me to know who I am in his life (aka title) especially since we are starting a life together! He brushed it off again and at this point I’m getting annoyed.
He said “jeez calm down, Are you getting your period or something?”
And I immediately got triggered 😅 I do not like when men brush woman’s feelings off as PMS.
THAT is not valid, my FEELINGS are valid. Yet he brushed it off as me getting my period & keeps laughing every time I would stand my ground. It’s belittling.
Am I overreacting by wanting to be called his fiancé? I hang out with him and all his guy friends, I don’t really have female friends so sometimes I really do question if I’m dramatic or if they are just assholes.
This reminds me of high school. When guys who said “titles don’t matter” we’re always the one who cheated & lied 😤 and just to get even deeper into it, I’ve worked so hard to Build my self love for myself and I feel as though I deserve a title.
Am I being a brat? God my mind is so confused.
