Did I overreact?

So I’ve been seeing this guy for awhile and I’ve had several embarrassing moments in the bedroom with him and it makes me insecure each time. Today we had sex when we woke up and while turning the fan on he told me my breath smelled. I didn’t pack an overnight bag which was dumb on my part so I just went to put some mouthwash in my mouth. I was already overthinking the situation and when I came back to the bed, I suggested that we just do it from behind but he said he wanted me on top of him. I told him I didn’t have the confidence to do so and he said “you shouldn’t be embarrassed about something everyone deals with in the morning”. I told him that I should’ve been more responsible and packed an overnight bag like a normal woman would and he said “I was being childish”. I ended up leaving because I was embarrassed.
