Does your toddler still use a pacifier?

Really need to get mine off his. But his oldest brother (5) is starting kindergarten in a few weeks. Middle brother (3) is moving to a bigger bed instead of right beside him. And I'm due with another baby in January so I'm trying to figure out the right time when he's already got so many changes coming. My other two never used one so new terrority for me!

My daughter stopped using/wanting it during the day at around 9/10 months unless she was having a total inconsolable meltdown. Otherwise she only used it for naps and bedtime. We cut her off cold turkey at 18 months because I was pregnant with her brother and we didn’t want her trying to steal his once he got here. We replaced it with a special lovey that she only got at nap and bedtime and made a big deal out of it. She was upset for the first nap without it and then was totally fine for all naps and bedtime! I highly suggest replacing the binky with some kind of special stuffy or lovey that he only gets during sleep times to help learn to use that as comfort in place of the binky

I cut both my kids off cold turkey once they turned 2. My 3 year old wasn’t upset and didn’t really care. My June baby was way more attached to his & he only screamed about it the first time I didn’t give him it (at nap time).  After that he was fine. It’s up to you if you want to try now before your son starts kindergarten or not. He may adjust really easily.
