Is it worth it to buy a home Doppler? (Comment which one)

Our doctor tried to use the Doppler at 9 weeks and couldn’t find the heartbeat. She said most likely because it was too early. We haven’t had an ultrasound yet (our doctors have been terrible at scheduling us 😒.) My first ultrasound is in 3 days now & I’m about 13 weeks. I just feel so anxious about not having heard the heartbeat or having seen the baby yet. Is a home Doppler worth it for peace of mind?

No because it can lead to both false alarms if you can't find baby's heartbeat yourself and later on a false sense of security that baby is fine. I've heard many stories of women using a Doppler in late pregnancy, hearing baby's heartbeat and ignoring their instincts that something is off so they don't get checked out and the baby dies.

No. My midwife suggested against these because they do not work. She told me about a story where her patient was using doppler every so often to see the heartbeat everything was fine and then went in for an appointment to check on baby and baby had already passed away a while ago.

I bought one for my 2nd baby because I had a MMC between my oldest and my youngest. The earliest I was able to get them was close to 10 weeks. They are a lot easier to find the bigger they get, but when around 9/10 weeks, they are super low in your pelvis. I found my baby around 9+5 last week. I bought mine on overstock for a lot cheaper than other places. They can cause unnecessary worry if you’re not able to find baby.
