Well I tried the shelter method to try for a girl. I BD friday august 12. Got a positive opk test aug 16th and then negative on the 17th. 
What are the odds of getting pregnant this month

Pretty slim but not impossible. Shettles was wrong so you're actually diminishing your chances. There's no difference in the speed or longevity of x and Y sperm so have sex close to ovulation for your best chance. In the end you get what you get.

Somewhere between 0-30% but honestly probably in the lower end. Sperm can technically survive up to five days inside you but that’s with ideal conditions and absolutely perfect sperm. 2-3 days is really max for most circumstances so only having sex 4-5 days before ovulation lowers your chances of conceiving at all. It could still work! It’s just less likely. This method for gender swaying as been disproven anyway. So if you really want a baby I’d recommend having sex closer to ovulation for better odds.
