Oral sex with a cold sore!

Idk how to feel I’ve been with my fiancé for 5 years and getting married next year. He has herpes 1 which I’ve never cared about. Until last night he went down on me(oral sex), I immediately told him to stop but sometimes I’ll tell him that when I haven’t shaved because it embarrasses me and he continued and said between it that he didn’t care some hair lol. But I told him to stop not because the hair but because of his cold sore!😭 Can I get herpes down there? He said no! Because it’s type 1 not herpes type 2. But I’m scared. Please help! I love him so much but I wouldn’t like to get it. Idk he has always been careful he never kisses me when he has a Flare up but yesterday he was so turned on, so was I but I don’t want an Illness to impact my life.
