When do you start giving solid food?

Dear mommies,
My baby is 5 months and 2 weeks now. Is it okay to introduce solid slowly?

Our MD said we could start at 4 months. He said drs are being recommended to start early now. We did very slowly to make sure her stomach was ok. My daughter will be 6months on the 9th and she loves rice cereal and sweet potato purée

I waited till a year with my youngest , he’s two and my only little without stomach problems he was strictly breast milk the entire first year least of my picky as well, ask your pedi though.

Yea I started all my kids around 4 months cause they had good control of thier heads. Just stay off slow

Our little munchkin started with solids when he was 4 months old. That was mainly to get more foods into him, though, as he still seems to prefer solids over formula.. since he was 3 months old, 20-ish oz has been the max he'd take in a day.. and he is not a small fella 😂
Now at 6 months he is eating 3 solid meals a day (5oz of porridge in the morning, and 4 1/3 oz lunch and dinner)

I read that around 6 months when baby can sit up and can pinch with their pointer and thumb. They'll also show interest in food

My baby just turned 5 months old last week and I started him on some rice cereal. I discussed it with my pediatrician first and she was on board with my thoughts. I mix the cereal with my pumped breast milk. I plan on starting purees of some veggies soon then fruits. I think it really varies from child to child. This one is my 4th and he has definitely been the most interested in what we are all eating before the other 3. He would track every single bite and chew when I chewed my food, lol.

It's definitely not too early. It depends on the baby. I sat my babe in a high chair at 5 months. She kept slouching over and just didn't look ready to start. 3 weeks later she looks ready to go. We start with grains and veggies, then fruits. It's easy to puree things I eat already. Solid starts is a great app to use! You can also follow them on Instagram.

I started at about 5 1/2 months, only mashed potatoes, things to easily eat until he turned 6 months, then started introducing thicker foods, I waited until his pediatrician gave the okay, I would ask next time
