I'm having a C-section in 10 days and was offered the mirena coil to be placed during surgery. The consultant said the first 6 months can have irregular spotting and periods. But I get that the first 6 months after pregnancy anyway. I usually have extremely heavy periods and the mirena can help with that. So I'm really leaning towards that.

Yeah, I think I will too. Hope my cycles are regular again after 6 months and are really less heavy. I don't expect them to go completely because even when I was on the mini pill they weren't and even when I'm fully breastfeeding I still have my periods

I've had the nexplanon 3 times and my first one was bliss, no periods, no symptoms, nothing. 2nd time was hell, bled for months on end, gained a mass of weight and broke out in oily skin. My 3rd I thought I'd give it another go since my first was fine and again, absolutely hell the exact same as my 2nd one. I'm waiting on having the mirena inserted and hoping that works for me. I've also tried pills and the patch and I either forget to take them or the patch would stick to my clothing and aggrevate my skin

From what the doctor described to me, the first few months can be unpredictable with spotting or irregular bleeding but it usually settles and your periods usually lighten or stop. Also it is localised to your womb and doesn't pass through your blood stream so you're less likely to have the same side effects as things like the pill, injection and implant as they all pass through your blood. Hopefully it's good🤞

Well by the sound of that i might just go with my first mind and get the mirena i hope that one don’t make me bleed for months that’s the only thing ima hate
