Floor bed for 16-month-old?

Hi all! I’m trying to transition the baby (well, toddler!) from her crib to a floor bed because I would like my partner to be able to put her to bed and we need some way to sneak away after putting her in. I’m a bit concerned about giving her the freedom to roam around at night, but I’m sure we can find ways of securing all the cords and corners of her room to make it safe.

When did you transition your littles to a floor bed, if at all? What advice do you have for keeping them safe and happy?
