Bumpy start to preschool- thoughts?

Ren H. 💑🤱🏼🌈💕

My son just started a nature preschool and I thought he was ready but we seem to get communications a bit that maybe he’s not independent enough?

It’s 3x a week, half days. He has never been in childcare or a babysitter outside of us and grandparents for background info. Absolutely no tears when we drop him off he’s ecstatic and his teachers say he is so happy there.

But he’s not fully potty trained (they’re supposed to be) so they’re trying to help him and in The meantime he wears a pull-up because he had too many accidents the first week. Today they said he was unable to communicate that he was cold and wet and couldn’t really change his clothes. His pediatrician seemed to think his speech/readiness was fine. Now I’m at a loss on what to do without pressuring him- I was not aware a 3k had such expectations for independence. Again it’s a nature school so they’re outside and he will be wearing layers of clothing. I’m getting the vibe that he may be needing “too much” help than what the school generally gives.

Any fellow mama insight on preschool at 3? The “norm” ? Am I overthinking this or is he that far behind other kids?
