Tw: mentions war in Ukraine

Little backstory

So since my in law and me coming from country that was in war and also had genocide 27 years ago and still recovering my mil is obsessed with watching YouTube r videos and Ukraine war.Not blaming her she is scared.So when ever I come to visit her she will tell me that war will be in our home country and neighbors country(my bil and SIL went to our home country for vacation she called them asked when they coming back and to hurry up because war will start with country we are neighbors-not true btw).And what ever she sees on YouTube she believes that is true and is happening right now (I tried to explain her some videos she watches are old and those stuff happened some time ago).

But onto the story

Couple days ago she called me saying her washing machine isn’t working she can turn it on.No problem I pick up kids into car and drive to her house (15 minutes to her house).Fix that sit for a bit so she can see kids and I will be going home.I turned towards tv so see what she is watching.And conversation went like this:

Me :why are you watching these video games (ones kids put on YouTube like streams or whatever they are called)

Mil : no,that is war in Ukraine.I’m watching how they are going there.

Me:no,that is definitely video game on concept of war in Ukraine.

Mil: no I don’t believe it.I’m watching that every night that is what happening there.

Me- I’m trying to explain that is video games someone posted on YouTube and that is not real.After 15 minutes she believes me

Mil: omg I can’t believe I spent hours watching that because I thought it was real.But I did notice how soldiers are moving like they are drunk.i wanted to ask one of my sons (she lives alone) when they visit is this true

And I started laughing honestly.And she also started laughing.She is old and doesn’t see good and doesn’t speak or read English so she couldn’t see it what it says in title of those video.

It’s just funny situation that I remembered 😅
