Healthcare is fucking abysmal

I moved to a new city last year due to my husband’s work. Found a doctor that was taking new patients and scheduled an appointment… 4 months later. Because that’s how long the wait list was. I saw him. I didn’t like him. He asked me why I wanted a physical because I “looked healthy to him”. I found another doctor that was accepting new patients… made an appointment for this Monday 10/3 FIVE MONTHS AGO because that’s how long the wait list was too. They called me this morning to cancel it because the doctors here don’t “swap patients”. I was like “I don’t understand what that means”. The receptionist basically explained the doctors in this town have some agreement that they don’t take the patients of another doctor. So basically once you pick one, you’re stuck with that doctor. I said, “okay, that’s crazy, but let me just go ahead and make an appointment with my doctor then because I’m sick and have some concerns.” She says “I’ll call you back on Monday to do that.” I get online at the patient portal and just schedule it that way, except his next available appointment is OCTOBER 26TH. A great fat help that’ll do me. I booked it anyway. There are ZERO doctors here accepting new patients.

My son was referred to see a psychologist FOUR MONTHS AGO, but the appointment was not made until October 20th.

I cannot get a hold of my child’s pediatrician. They literally will not answer the phone any time of day.

I cannot get a hold of my own doctor. They won’t answer the phone either. I’m indefinitely on hold.

I’m seriously so frustrated with healthcare.

People wonder why people get on this app and ask healthcare questions and respond with “see your doctor”. Yeah I’ll get right on that, in five months when I can finally make an appointment.
