So I use a legit and trained service dog. I have a large Labrador retriever that is a trained seizure alert dog as well as a assistance dog as I have severe limitations with mobility. He was trained through a program and is an actual working service dog. Yesterday he was attacked while we're were in target picking up my prescriptions by a "service dog" aka a smaller Schnauzer looking dog with a clearly fake vest that was not under control at all. The owner wasn't caring what it did, it was growling and showing teeth to many people and even shit on the floor. Me and Rocky (my dog) avoided it as much as we could but as we were leaving rhe pharmacy area it crossed our path where I couldn't avoid it and it jumped up and bite my dogs face and a very nice man near by tossed him off my dog. The owner was screeching about how he was going to jail for assaulting a service dog and that me and him would be getting sued because my 'vicious' dog started it. My dog was at my side focused on me and even when bite and bleeding I was able to redirect to me and put him in a lay because he is an actual fucking service dog. We see fake digs everywhere and it is so hard and also unsafe. Rocky let's me jnow when I have a seizure coming amd is trained to help me to a sitting position safely if need be. If some non trained dog near by attacks him or distracts him at these times it could be very dangerous for me. I can't stop a dog fight if some dog attacks him or protect him. And he us my best friend and my world. The fact so many people are ok with faking their obviously non trained and awful dogs as service dogs is just deplorable and dangerous. If you have ever done it fuck you and if you know someone that does tell them to stop because it us dangerous, maybe even deadly, vut also makes actual service dog users lives harder daily as they assume my dog is fake. I wish I could say it us rare but at least once a week of not more we see fake and often agressive dogs their owner has thrown a vest on because they wanna take them shopping or into a restaurant. I take my dog because I have to to live a semi normal life safely you just wanting your dog at brunch with you us totally different. And incase anyone asks yes I am pressing charges, yes Rocky is OK but did have to get stitches and the other owner refused to cooperate in anything.
