Is this weird or disrespectful?

I have one preschool son and a daughter who died at 22 weeks, I named her and we signed a certificate of life but not a legal one as she was under the viability age so classed as a late term miscarriage, however, I’m now pregnant with my third, and if it is a girl I plan to use my late daughters name as a respect to her and because the name holds so much love and value in my heart. However, when I mentioned it to my sister she told me it’s disgusting and disrespectful and just weird. I’m a single mother by choice (iui) and don’t know how to feel about it now

My son died at 27.5 weeks and I am now 24 weeks with another boy. My partner wanted to give him the same name but I don’t. My thinking is that it’s his name, his memory and I want each of my children to feel unique and that we thought of the name just for them, not like a repeat. But I would say a middle name is super appropriate. And I love my Angel baby’s name Connor but it just hurts too much.

As someone who also lost their daughter during the second trimester (23 weeks), I think this is lovely. You see people name their children after their parents etc, if it’s how you want to pay “tribute” to your late daughter and love your newest addition then don’t let anyone tell you not to!

I don’t think there is a right or wrong answer for this. People honor those who’ve passed in many different ways. If this brings you happiness and peace, then do it.

I personally would use the name as a middle name as this child deserves its own identity, but I wouldnt say it's disrespectful or disgusting thay are both your children only you know what is best

To me, PERSONALLY, it’s insensitive. It’s like you wanted to use the name but that child is no longer living so you’re using it on one that is so you can still use the name just cause you love the name so much. I’m 26 weeks and even if I was 15 weeks and, Universe forbid, something happened to my son I would never reuse his name for another son. Not saying that’s your thought process whatsoever, that’s just how I see it. But alas, my opinion doesn’t really matter. You name your baby whatever you want for whatever reason you want.

I'm named after a lost baby.  My mother would have had one more sibling, Kendra, but my grandmother miscarried.  So when I was born, my mom named me Kendra as a tribute and my grandma loved it. 💖
I think using the name of a lost baby is a beautiful way to honor it.

This used to be very common practice when child mortality was very high. It's not weird or disrespectful. Use the name.
