MCDA OR DIDI Twins
Hi all
All throughout my pregnancy I was told I was having MCDA Twins.
I was always told there was 1 sac and 1 placenta (MCMA Twins)
At my 12 weeks scan they struggled and it took a good half hour to see that there was a membrane in between the twins (it was so thin) which then they said that they had their own separate waters and this made them MCDA Twins.
I had my twins 5 weeks ago now and they where born at 28 weeks gestation, on this day before I had my c section I had a scan and an internal scan where the sonographer said there was 2 placentas… I was so confused but she said they where still identical…?
After my C-section I asked the midwife how many placentas there where and she said 1
Today I asked the nurses how many placentas their where and when she checked my hospital notes she said it said 2 placentas! And she showed me the proof!
My question now is are my twins identical or not?
They nurses where questioning if my twins are a rare type of identical Twins!!!
What appears to be 1 sac could it be two and there is a thin membrane between them, could that suggest 2 sacs that are close together?
Or can it actually mean that MCDA twins have separate placentas?
I have ordered a DNA kit but in the meantime I wondered if anyone knows anything about this?
Thank you for reading
Any information please pass it my way
