First Mom Tips?

This is my first pregnancy and it’s caught me so off guard and tips for first time moms anyone want to share? 🥺🥺🥺

Start taking prenatals asap. Don’t just take any advice given to you as “good” advice. Many of my husband’s family members gave him advice and it caused us issues when I’d refuse to go by the advice because it was outdated advice he took as fact because he trusts his family. Make sure you research on your own from reputable sources.

• Don't skimp on a mattress and carseat, but everything else can be 2nd hand
• Crib - no need for a convertible
• bite marks
• baby #2 will probably get crib and toddler will get a bigger bed
• Carseat
• infant carseat for first 6 months
• Matching base for dad's and grandparents' vehicles
• Convertible after 6 to 12 months old but don't get a 10 year, all-in-one (the fabric has to hold up for 10 years too) 
• Think about how much room in vehicle, they have slim carseats
• Easy to remove fabric (baby will puke, poop, and spill stuff all over it)
• Seely waterproof mattress cover x3
• Midnight throw ups will make the mattress damp without these
• A sick baby/toddler is going to throw up more than once during the night
• Dreft stain remover
• Works on grease stains too!
• Carpet spot cleaner
• Life saving when puke or chocolate milk gets *all* over the car
• Also great for spills on the couch
• Hardwood floor wet mop/vacuum
• We like Tineco
• Breast milk bags - Up & Up Brand
• Diaper bag that will work for 2+ kids
• Terry cotton burp cloths
• Others will just push the puke around
• Varieties of bottles (Medela and Tommy tippy worked for us)
• Bottle warmer (nice but don't need)
• Heating a cup of water in the microwaving and then setting the bottle in there will do
• Don't microwave the milk itself
• Nipple shields (hospital will supply if needed)
• Sound machine (can help restless babies) Hatch is nice and grows with baby
• Don't need crib comforter set(waste of money)
• Do your research on mattresses, ones that flip to a toddler size are very nice.
• Innerspring vs foam
• Baby monitor is nice but don't need all the bells and whistles (security cameras work just as well)
• Moses baskets or bassinets for downstairs
• Owlet is nice for peace of mind (or co-sleeping)
• Pack n play with multiple features (changing table, bassinet, half way level, and full down level)
• If you find out the sex, people will tend to give you clothes
• If you wait to find out the sex, people gift diapers
• Book instead of card is fun but question whether you'll have a shower for baby #2, if you won't then baby #1 will have a ton of personalized books that are hard to pass down to baby #2 
• Focus on things that can serve multiple purposes, grow with baby, and fold flat for storage
• Formula fed tips
• Get a thermos and when going out on errands, fill it with boiling water to use for bottles
• Cozy cover bug and sun is a great way to keep bugs, sun, and people away from baby
