learning to walk! 🥲

My daughter is about to be 15 months old and still isn’t walking independently 😅 Her pediatrician has no concerns but said if she doesn’t show any progress by 18 months she might need some pediatric physical therapy to help strengthen her muscles & balance.

My daughter also tries to walk on her tippy toes most of the time which i believe is where the problem is. She can pull herself up, go up and down , walk while holding on to things , go side to side , and maintain balance while standing for up to a minute but whenever i try to walk with her she loses all balance and confidence and falls on purpose to crawl.

It’s never bothered me before but then today i took her to the park to play and started up a conversation with another mom at the park who’s son was 11 months old. Her son was very advanced in my opinion. He was walking , babbling, he was playing on the park mostly independently. Once she asked me how old my daughter was and i said she was about to be 15 months old she said ‘oh, that’s weird’ 😬 ?? so now i’ve been feeling so self conscious and like a horrible mother all day.

I try so hard to not compare my daughter to other children around her age because she was born early & small and had some problems early on that some other babies don’t experience. She’s also always been a slow learner when it comes to milestones, she didn’t start crawling until 13 months and still doesn’t do some things most babies her age do but it’s never bothered me until today. My daughter is also in the 98th percentile for babies her age. She wears 2T/3T because she is extremely tall for her age so i guess i can see why other parents can get confused 😕

I’m just looking for some advice, tips , words of encouragement, anything like that! I just don’t know what to do to help encourage her to walk and boost her confidence, any suggestions are welcome! 👍🏼 Thank you!
