Recurrent Vaginal Infections

Caity

I’m 19, and I have always had chronic UTI’s, but I never had bacterial vaginosis until I turned 18, met my male partner (I have always been with females until now), and until I got my IUD put in. I have fairly good hygiene, but sometimes, my hygiene is greatly affected by my mental health. I’ve had BV twice this year now. I took clindamycin suppository cream the first time, and it seemed to work. The second and most recent time, I took the SAME medicine, and I only had relief for a few days. A few days afterwards, I have experienced bladder discomfort (comparable to a UTI), itchy labia, heavy, thick, white discharge, and bleeding on my labia from the amount of scratching I have been doing. I have several questions and it would be so helpful if a few experienced people could leave comments to answer my questions. Why do I keep getting bacterial vaginosis? How do I maintain good vaginal hygiene when my vagina is so sensitive and susceptible to bacteria? What is causing these recurrent infections? Do I have a yeast infection after taking the clindamycin suppository cream?
