My job asked me not to pump

So I’m 35 weeks today and I work in a lab, and we have 3 main stations in the area. So one of the techs/LEADS (like one of the managers) was talking to me and asked if I planned on breastfeeding and I told her I planned on splitting between breastfeeding and pumping, I’ll pump at work. She was like ‘oh okay like on your break?’ And I have a 40 min break (I also work 10 hrs) and I was like probably on my break and then again around 3pm? She asked me how long and I was like ‘I’m not sure maybe like 30 mins? I’m pretty new to this whole mom thing haha’ and she was like ‘I’m sorry that’s not gonna work’ and I was like … 😵‍💫 what? And she straight up asked me if I could formula feed instead of pumping?

And I was like, well if I formula feed then that will be a choice I make because of me, not because of work. Plus aren’t there laws that say I’m legally allowed to work? And she was like ‘yeah so legally you can, but everyone’s gonna hate u for it haha(🙄) we don’t have the staff to accommodate that and I don’t think the other techs are gonna be happy about covering for you for that long when it’s not your break.

So I went ahead and emailed HR asking and verifying that this won’t be an issue. But the thing is, I know LEGALLY it’s not an issue. But I know my coworkers are gonna give me so much shit for it. Has anyone dealt with this kind of crap before?
