when did your milk supply come in?!

You can include when the leakage started if you want. I was told recently by a HS friend that she pumped before her baby was even born. Did you have that opportunity? Did your baby feed off you right after birth? Share your breastfeeding journeys! ♥️ sending love to all you mamas!

Milk doesn’t come in until a few days after birth (it’s triggered by the detachment of the placenta.) Some people are able to harvest colostrum before birth though.
For the first few days of breastfeeding, baby just eats the nutrient dense colostrum. My milk came in on day 4 but I breastfed from day 1.

Leaking in pregnancy does not indicate how your supply will be. 
Pumping before birth isn’t advised as it can trigger labor. Even in the final weeks with doctors approval, it’s not necessary and doesn’t mean you’ll milk will come in faster.
Your milk will come in 3-7 days after the placenta detaches. You will have colostrum before that. Baby only needs that colostrum. You just latch latch latch after babe is born. Babe should be at the breast every 3 hours or sooner. 
Having no supply or low supply due to a medical condition is not that common. Most women who say they had a low/no supply were misinformed, didn’t know what to look out for, made the assumption based on mixing up cues, didn’t pump/latch enough…etc. 
I highly highly recommend taking a breastfeeding course. There’s so much to know. There’s so many misconceptions and misinformation floating around about breastfeeding.

Yes skin to skin right after birth and introduced breastfeeding within the first hour. Heavenly. Baby gets all that special colostrum it needs to help expel the meconium poos. 3 or 4 days postpartum the other milk comes in, boobs hard as a rock. Nurse thru it. Massage out lumps with heat pads or under hot shower. Drips, sprays, the whole nine yards lol. Nursing is supply and demand so there is no need to pump if you want to exclusively breadtfeed; it could cause an oversupply, mastitis etc.  For me, it's at the 10 day mark where my nipples have toughened and I feel like we have gotten the hang of it. So grateful to do this a 4th time in May!

I never leaked with either of mine. Colostrum was there gift baby right when they were born. Actual milk wasn’t in until a couple days after birth. You can collect colostrum before birth if you’re having some leaking out or something. Haaka makes some really cool collection tubes for it.
