8 weeks and brown spotting

I’m 8 weeks and a day. Just yesterday I started brown spotting each time I wipe. My office didn’t seem too concerned, the nurse messaged me back saying to call them if it turns to red period like bleeding. This is my first pregnancy so obviously I’m scared. I’ve also had some cramping the last two days. Is this normal? Has anyone had this and it was a healthy pregnancy?
