After my episiotomy had fully healed my physio suggested some gentle massage of the scar with coconut oil. But while it was still healing, nothing but water.

No and I'll tell you that any kind of ointment like Vaseline is not something that should be put on an open wound especially a vaginal tear because it is just going to hold bacteria in the wound. I've never heard of a doctor recommending that and I personally would not recommend it and I know my doctor wouldn't.
You really don't need to be putting anything on the tear, if it's stitched just keep it clean. Use your water bottle with warm water clean it thoroughly after you go to the bathroom and you can do some warm bath soaks, no soap, but you don't need to be putting any creams or ointment on it unless it's infected and your prescribed by doctor to use an antibiotic cream.
