It helps with pain but won’t fix the problem. If they do have an infection their eardrum can rupture, so best practice is to see a doctor but by all means you can try ibuprofen or Tylenol. My kids both respond best to ibuprofen for ear infection pain.

Ibuprofen will help more with the inflammation but if you suspect an infection get it checked out and treated so their eardrum doesn't burst.
