This is all my daughter can say at 17m and the only 3 she says right are mama dada and butt 🤣 but she just states saying those mostly because I make her sing to be and read to me she could only say mama and dada for a really long time. Very few correctly pronounced words, but yes, he is speaking. (Maybe 25 words at 15 months). Speech therapists say that if your child is consistently referring to an object or activity with the same word every time, that sounds similar to the word and there is intention behind it, it counts as a word. So if your toddler says “da” for dog and “da” for dad, it counts as 2 separate words. Also, sign language counts as words or any other language they may know counts as words.
