Lip tie?

My LO is 6 months old and teething and I was looking to see if the top teeth were starting to come through yet and I noticed this. I had him evaluated by ped & lactation consultant when he was still a newborn and they said no. But this looks worse to me now.. I called ped for a referral to an oral surgeon to evaluate and possibly treat.. waiting to hear back.

My baby has one, but she latches great and it doesn’t interfere with nursing, we will not be getting a revision as we believe it’s not necessary

It’s definitely a lip tie. My son has the same one and we didn’t notice it until his front teeth came in when he was 13 months. But thinking back to when we were nursing It caused me to get AWFUL milk blisters on my nipples I guess if you haven’t had any issues yet it’s fine. We took my son to the dentist and he actually has several kinds of ties besides that one but our dentist wants to leave that one alone for now.

If it doesn’t effect his eating, I wouldn’t do anything about it. They typically correct themselves as babe ages.

That's definitely a tie but if it's not caused any issues nursing then there is no reason to treat it now. The pediatric dentists my child sees have said if it doesn't affect how baby eats and a parent doesn't want to do the procedure then that they recommend having it done when the child is around 6 or 7 before adult teeth start to grow in. I personally didn't want to have my child's tie corrected during infancy because I was told "there's no need for local anesthetic" by the doctors who would have preformed it and I saw multiple of my friends babies go through it. I personally felt better waiting until my child is older and can have local anesthetic to have the procedure done.
This honestly doesn't look severe and so many people have them and it's not an issue. It's just up to you what you want to do with it.
