Relationship Help
My boyfriend and I have almost been together for a year and for the last 4 ish months, it hasn’t gone great. I have two small kids and I started school in September so I’ve been slammed busy. At first he was understanding and supportive. I kept trying to make time for him by asking if he wanted to come in to school with me while I did some work (drawing work so I could still talk with him) tried to go to dinner but he complained about spending money, just tried everything I could to show up for him while still being a mama to my babies and doing well in school. The busier I got, the more he would make comments about me not loving him in a “joking” way and would say things about me under his breath because he knows I have really bad hearing and can’t tell what he says when he does that. Every time we’ve tried to discuss our relationship, we don’t get anywhere. If I tell him how I’m feeling he just tells me that it’s not true. For example, if I say “I’m feeling upset because you make comments about me not loving you when you know I’m so stressed (because I literally cried from being overwhelmed to him) and I’m trying so hard for you.” And he’ll tell me “nooooo that’s not true I don’t say that.” We can’t have an open and honest conversation. I’m actually putting a pause on school because this relationship is becoming such a stressor for me. Now he’s so upset with me not doing my part (I think? He won’t tell me) that he’s stopped doing everything for me as a way to get back at me. He used to help clean up my house when he came over so I could work on school and now he won’t even touch it. He’ll go out and do things just so he can tell me about them later and that he did them without me. We have other issues too. Mostly it’s me though. Like he’s an only child and he always has to win or be looked at as the better person. If we’re driving separately from one place to another, he goes out of his way to “beat” me there. He’ll make comments to my kids about how moms not doing this or that which conveniently makes him look better. It’s really getting to me. I’m at a loss. I’ll take any advice anyone has.
Thank you in advance.
