Anesthesia

Hey everyone, I’m having a rectovaginal fistula repair surgery on Thursday.

I woke up yesterday (Monday) with a cough. No other cold symptoms.

I’m freaking out that mucus / phlegm will get trapped in the breathing tube & I’ll choke to death on the operating table while being under.

Any advice?

I have my hands tied with postponing the surgery because of work / husbands work (he’s taking off to help me with the kids) & also, this may sound horrible but we’re getting married soon & I’ll lose my insurance, so postponing isn’t an option.

I’m going to be telling the anesthesiologist about my cough.

But has anyone had surgery before while sick? Was going under anesthesia okay?
