Do single moms really get more back in tax returns ?

This is my first time filing single with kids. (I have 2 (4, and 3) …it’s estimating like $5,000 and I’m in shock. It doesn’t seem right

How much you "get back" depends highly on how much you make and how much was withheld from your paychecks.

Broke moms do. Especially the ones who work part time or not at all and just collect child support and receive state assistance. 
The first time I filed with a dependent I got $350 back. I swear to God I was expecting THOUSANDS bc that’s what you hear. Nope. Not me. I legit asked my tax lady, “why do I work?” Bc my friends ex wife was getting child support from him for both of their kids, child support from another baby daddy, worked at a retail store 20 hours a week, received $400/m in food stamps, had medicaid and she got back $8k. 🤯 My tax lady explained I was setting a better example for my child and my friends ex wife will have zero when she retires, if she even can. 
I see the appeal why women choose to have multiple baby daddies, don’t work and live off the state.
