Will this change out relationship ?

Question

Does any of your boyfriends / husbands / partners travel for work ? Are they gone for a long time ? How has that changed your relationship? Has is affected your relationship in a good or bad way? 
My bf lives with me. And we have a great relationship. He was offered a job where he would have to be away for 2 weeks and then he would be off for a week and back home.  He’s thinking about it. But I’m scared that it’s going to change our relationship 😞.  I really don’t want him to leave that long.

My husband travels every week for work either mon-Thursday, or mon-Friday, it’s not an easy adjustment but we’ve found our flow. You HAVE to talk about it and decide how you will manage your needs, such as how will you communicate?? How will you keep the relationship alive?? For example…
I told my husband I need two talking touch points a day so we FaceTime morning and night. We text each other through the day too when he can. 
We go out for a fun date or activity on the weekends when we see each other, even if it’s just a walk in the park.
I take a few hours on a Sunday to go do my own thing alone without having to care for our baby, which I do basically as a single parent when he is gone without breaks. 
Etc….
Anyhow first most important thing is if there is ever any trust issue, even tiny ones like a DM you once saw that was sketchy, it will not work !! You have to have iron clad trust when one partner travels. There’s SOOOO many opportunities and tempting situations to cheat and  flirt when you travel for work. If he even has the tiniest inkling that he would entertain flirting with someone else, this is doomed. My husband is very straight edge. He would rather cut off his arm than cheat on me. But MANYYYYY of his coworkers cheat because it’s tempting and easy to get away with when traveling. It’s sad. 
Most importantly…. You need TRUST, a plan for how you will communicate when you are apart, and a plan for how you will connect when you are together. And address any other of each others concerns and fears before it starts.

My brother in law works 10 days on, 14 days off. My sister in law loves it, they’ve got 3 little girls. I don’t know that I could do long stretches away, but for some people it works. I would probably set a trial period - like try it for X amount of months and evaluate if it’s working for both of you. If not he maybe be prepared to find something else?
