Please help confused

Started spotting the 31st , April 1 ,April 2 ,APRIL 3 than at night I had this stuff come out. April 4 spotted till later in the evening. Than I started bleeding a little and woke up bleeding today April 5 my official day period.

Why did I spot for days before my period what is going on?

 I had this happen with my first child. I spotted on two days of my period and tested positive a week later.  My second child I spot for 7 days .  Ended up pregnant at the end of the month.

It’s weird to bleed this long.
