Credit

I didn’t know which group to put this in, sorry in advance. I use to live in an apartment and we moved out and my husband got sent to collections during covid. We had applied for rental assistance and the property manager didn’t submit the paperwork & was letting us collect late fees. I didn’t know anything. I kept calling & calling to get an update. They would never respond to any emails or calls. If they did answer, another worker would answer and say “I’ll let her know so she can get back with you” and nothing ever happened. anyways, it got sent to collections and now apparently the debt is 3k. The debt is from 2021. My question here is, I have never had credit so if I open my first credit card, will that debt appear there? Thank you!
