STD Mystery
My fiancĂ© and I live in Illinois. Last fall, he went to Texas for a job. In March of this year, I went to the doctor for a checkup and to ask about getting put on medication. She said I was due for an STI screening (women my age should have them annually). I didnât think anything of it, as I have ONLY been with my fiancĂ©, ever in my lifetime. They called the next day to say I was positive for chlamydia. Obviously, I was in a state of shock and hurt. I confronted him, and he denied anything had happened. He got tested. The kicker is that his test was negative. He then tried to flip it on me and tell me that I had explaining to do. However, I have never been with anyone else. I wouldnât lie about it either.
If he had messed around while he was in Texas, and got it treated, would that information pass over to our home state (Illinois)? We were together 9 years, been engaged since 2017, and have a 3 year old son. Ever since this situation happened, things just went downhill and fast. We ended the relationship on April 18thđ I know where I stand, but how do I know that he is truthful?
If anyone here woïżŒrks in healthcare, could you answer me this: if he got tested at a health department in Texas, would they have to report it to the state of Illinois? (Since chlamydia is a reportable STI). Iâm just curious how this works.
Also, I did bring it to his attention that people can sometimes get treated on the âstreet,â or use someone elseâs urine for a test, but he was furious with me for even suggesting those things. He called me, and I quote, âfucking dumb.â
