My Boyfriend Thinks My Son Needs To Go To Public School

My boyfriend started living with us 6 months ago. My son is going into the 9th grade in August and has been homeschooled his whole life. At first I homeschooled him but when the curriculum was getting out of my scope of knowledge I hired a teacher and he does him assignments online. My son is 14 and my boyfriend says he knows the issues I have with public school but he's worried because my son has no friends, never has had a friend, and doesn't know how to interact with boys or anyone his own age. I'm severally against sleepovers because I don't trust people and my son pretty much goes where I go. It was like that with my daughter too but she moved in with her dad and went to public school. My boyfriend said my son's lack of social skills showed when we all went to see a movie and when one of the workers asked who's male and around his age asked him what he wanted and my son just stood their with a red face and trying to speak but not speaking. My son's social skills aren't great but if they're already had throwing him into a public school may just make them worse. And it's not like he gets no social interaction. We talk all the time and my boyfriend said my son can always talk to him.
