Is my boss in the wrong? I told him I can’t lift
I am 10 weeks pregnant and work in a warehouse constantly lifting, twisting, bending and lifting up to 20kg a day.
Well I had my midwife appointment yesterday and I explained to her what work I do and she said “I advice strictly no lifting, bending, twisting under no circumstances” and I told her about how much pop we have to pick in bulk etc and she said no way.
She said she can write me a note for work but she can’t do it until I’m 16 weeks just because of procedure and Incase anything happens to the baby before then but she said she can backdate it and for me to just tell my boss anyway and if he has a problem to ring her.
So basically I told him and rang him yesterday and he was “shocked” my midwife had said that just like how he was with my other pregnant friend who’s 2 weeks ahead. In my mind I was kinda shocked a little as I thought my midwife might have said I was fine until so and so weeks but she was like NO LIFTING.
He was just saying stuff like “how do you do your shopping” I said you don’t shop for 7.5 hours 😂 and then saying stuff like “how do you put your shopping away” yet again you don’t do that for 7.5 hours!!
And then saying his wife was horse riding until she couldn’t get on her horse anymore. (Good for her but I’m not his wife) and horse riding is different you’re sat not lifting 😂
I just felt proper quilt tripped into continuing to pick in the warehouse lifting so I am still picking!!! And I even told him like I told my midwife that my stomach had been getting sore at work, not sure if it’s the lifting or what but my midwife said it will be.
He was just like “how do you do this” or “my wife did this” like proper comparing rather then supporting. But my doctor said if anything happens to me and they don’t listen I can sue them.
Where do I stand with this? I don’t want to be a pain or cause any drama, I’ve said I will continue to pick products because I felt I had no choice. But I feel it’s wrong. It’s not like I’m demanding not to work, I’m passing on advice from my professional midwife !!!
I asked my friend who also works there (she’s not pregnant) and she said just go super slow and pick and wait till your 16 weeks and give them the letter from your midwife and if they still don’t listen then take ACTION!! But be super slow at your job in the meantime Xx
